Using Google Trends to Elevate Your Social Media: How Gold Accents Became the Hottest Interior Design Social Trend of 2024
In today's digital age, crafting blog posts for an interior design business isn't just about sharing inspiration; it's about creating content that resonates with your audience and keeps them coming back. One tool that has revolutionized the way I approach blog writing is “Google Trends.” As interior designers, we know trends evolve fast, and staying on top of them can make or break the engagement we receive online. Google Trends is the secret weapon I use to ensure my blogs are timely, relevant, and ultimately what my audience is looking for.
Why Google Trends is Essential for Interior Design Blogs
Google Trends: Results Page
Google Trends allows you to see how often specific terms are being searched over a set period, showing how interest in certain topics rises and falls. For those of us in the design industry, this is invaluable. Interior design trends shift quickly, and Google Trends offers real-time data on what people are currently interested in. Whether you're writing about the latest in home renovation, color palettes, or decor, this tool helps you identify hot topics that are likely to drive traffic to your blog.
For example, say you’re planning a post on kitchen renovations. You can use Google Trends to find out if people are currently searching more for "modern kitchen cabinets" or "farmhouse kitchen designs." This allows you to tailor your content accordingly, ensuring it hits the mark with readers who are actively seeking that information.
In my experience, one of the best trends to dive into right now is the color gold in interior design. Gold accents are making a huge comeback, and they’re popping up everywhere from Instagram feeds to high-end showrooms. By incorporating trending topics like this, your blog can capture the attention of readers who are already interested in the subject.
Gold: A Trend Worth Blogging About
The @cosentino (instagram) gold kitchen.
Let’s talk about gold for a moment, because it’s a trend that’s shining brighter than ever. Whether it’s gold-leafed mirrors, gold-finish lighting fixtures, or subtle gold accents on furniture, this hue is the perfect blend of luxury and warmth. It fits seamlessly into modern, contemporary, and even eclectic designs. Gold, with its timeless appeal, works beautifully in nearly any room, bringing a touch of glamour without overwhelming a space.
When I researched "gold interior design" on Google Trends, I found that searches for this term have been spiking over the last few months. This isn't surprising—gold offers both subtle elegance and bold statement-making potential, making it a versatile addition to any home. Blogging about how to incorporate gold into different rooms—like using gold faucets in bathrooms or gold accents in a home office—positions your content as timely and relevant to what your audience is already curious about.
Here’s a tip: make your blog post even more interactive by embedding your own Instagram posts that feature gold accents from past projects. Gen Z, especially, responds to engaging, visual content. By integrating your social media presence with your blog, you give your readers a more immersive experience.
Social Media Posts that Complement Your Blog
Speaking of Instagram, let’s explore how to create posts that align with both your blog content and current trends like gold accents. Instagram is a visual platform, making it the perfect companion to your interior design blog. For each blog post, I recommend creating several social media assets that you can drip out over time to build engagement.
1. Instagram Carousel Post:
@theinteriorstratejist (Instagram)
- Caption: “Can we talk about gold accents for a second?” Whether it’s a gold-leafed mirror or brass lighting fixtures, this hue adds a touch of elegance to any space. Swipe to see how I’ve been incorporating gold in my latest designs! #InteriorDesignTrends #GoldAccents #ModernLuxury”
- Carousel images: Showcase a series of 5-6 images featuring gold accents in different rooms—like kitchens, living rooms, and bathrooms.
2. Instagram Reel:
- Caption: “Gold accents are EVERYTHING right now! Here’s how to use them to elevate any space. Which room is your favorite? Let me know in the comments! #GoldDesign #TrendingInDesign #HomeDecorInspo”
- Reel idea: Record a quick, engaging video walking through a room in a house with gold elements—focusing on doorknobs, lighting fixtures, and other subtle details.
3. Instagram Story:
- Poll: Post a story with a before-and-after shot of a space, asking, “Would you add gold accents to your home? Yes/No.”
- Swipe-Up Link: If you have enough followers for the feature, link directly to your blog post to drive traffic.
These posts aren’t just about getting likes; they’re about driving engagement and encouraging readers to click through to your blog. As Sarah Thompson (@SocialLivingSpaces), a digital strategist, puts it, "Blogging is about connection. When you align your content with what people want, you establish trust—and trust leads to growth." This is especially true when your blog content and social media efforts work hand-in-hand.
The SEO Boost: Why Google Trends Helps You Rank Higher
Semrush is an amazing tool for SEO take a look!
Another benefit of using Google Trends is that it helps you optimize your blog for SEO. When you write about topics that are already trending, you're more likely to rank higher in Google searches. By including keywords that people are actively searching for—like "gold interior accents," "modern luxury design," or "home decor trends 2024"—you increase the likelihood that your blog will appear in front of the right audience.
As fellow blogger, Amy Davis (@DesignInfluence) points out, "It’s not about just finding a trend; it’s about discovering how to make it work for your audience." Whether your readers are looking for inspiration for their home office or wondering how to make a small living room feel luxurious, using Google Trends allows you to meet them where they are.
Incorporating tools like Google Trends into your content creation process ensures your blog is always one step ahead. Not only will your posts be timely, but they’ll also resonate with your audience and keep them coming back for more. As Jodie Bell (@HomeHavenbyJodie)says, "The best content isn’t just beautiful—it’s relevant."
With the help of Google Trends and some well-curated social media posts, you can create a blog that engages readers and keeps them inspired, all while ensuring your content ranks higher in search results. Now’s the time to elevate your blog—and your brand—by staying on top of trends and creating content that shines, just like the color gold.

Unlocking Luxury: How Email Campaigns Can Elevate Your Interior Design Business (Social Media)
My time in Paris. Oh So Tres Chic!
Hey there, Stratejists!
If you’re in the luxury interior design game, you know that every detail matters—whether it’s the fabric of a couch or the shade of paint on the walls. But what about your marketing strategies? Today, let’s chat about why an effective email campaign strategy is your secret weapon for making a splash in the luxury design world.
My colleague and I working on a new project during my tour at Cosentino
1. Connect with Your Ideal Clients
In the world of high-end interior design, understanding your audience is everything. If you’re targeting affluent professionals—think executives, doctors, and real estate investors—your email campaign is your direct line to them. By zeroing in on demographics like Dallas and Highland Park’s elite, you can craft emails that speak directly to their sophisticated tastes and lifestyle needs. Using keywords like “luxury interior design Dallas” and “high-end residential renovations” ensures that your emails are hitting the right notes.
2. Showcase Your Design Expertise
Luxury clients want to see what you’re capable of—your work needs to dazzle! Your email campaigns are a fantastic way to highlight your latest projects and transformations. Use compelling visuals and phrases like “stunning before-and-after designs” and “exclusive design insights” to draw them in. Show off your craftsmanship with high-resolution images and detailed descriptions that convey the elegance and sophistication of your work.
Just finished my social media presentation @Dovetail Furniture in Los Angeles, CA
3. Engage with Valuable Content
Let’s be honest: luxury clients are inundated with options. Your email should cut through the clutter with engaging content that offers real value. Share tips on “creating a luxurious living space,” “trends in high-end interior design,” and other long-tail keywords that cater to their interests. Personalize your messages to make them feel special, and include clear calls to action like “schedule a free design consultation” or “discover our latest design trends.”
4. Optimize with SEO and Geo-Targeting
To make sure your emails are reaching the right people, you need to blend in some savvy SEO and geo-targeting techniques. Incorporate keywords like “Dallas luxury interior design” and “Highland Park renovation experts” to boost your visibility. Use local hashtags and geo-tags in your content to connect with clients in your target areas. For a real SEO boost, don’t forget to include backlinks to your website’s service pages and blog posts, guiding recipients to more of your stellar work.
5. Build Lasting Relationships
Luxury design is all about relationships and trust. Your email campaigns are a great way to build and nurture these connections. Regular updates, exclusive offers, and personal touches in your emails keep your brand at the forefront of your clients’ minds. Engaging content and consistent communication help turn first-time clients into loyal fans.
Wrap-Up
In the luxury interior design industry, where every detail counts, a well-crafted email campaign is more than just a marketing tool—it’s your chance to shine. By connecting with your ideal clients, showcasing your expertise, and optimizing with smart SEO practices, you’ll make your mark and attract the high-value clients you’re looking for. So, let’s get those emails rolling and turn your design dreams into reality!
Until next time, keep designing and keep dazzling!
Warmly,

Welcome! I’m Nicholas.
Let’s start with an introduction to the blog. I’m Nicholas BTW…
It began with an ask. In 2020, I was working on a digital media project as a first responder to the pandemic. I had a conversation with my best friend needing some guidance on his social media presence as an interior designer. Since working in the digital media space for over 10 years. I provided my experience and mentored him throughout the process. The relationship budded and created a new journey that I never that would happen in my lifetime. I went from one person just working in the interior design industry to working with companies and other clients within the industry. I figured out if I can just help a creative at a time, we can build community and we all will win. Therefore, I created ‘The Interior Strategjist’
The Interior Stratejist is all about presenting digital media methods for building community within the interior design industry. You can even bring my experience to other industries as well. Remember that everything is connected. As a former full-time womenswear designer and child of a realtor/designer. I’ve spent almost 20 years working in the world of marketing and design to learn whats out there and what we as creatives need to do to build our brands.
Feel free to take time reading through my blog! I’ll have content that I have created and designed with other key industry professionals, videos that I have personally produced, content regarding interior design and my life in general as a stratejist. Welcome to my world. I can’t wait to see all of your journeys!

Lights, Camera, Design: A Guide to Crafting Compelling Video Content for Interior Designers
It all begins with an idea.
Willie, Willie and Kim Photography and I are Working on a Shoot
“Lights, Camera and Not One Stitch of Makeup On!” One of my favorite lines from the film, Drop Dead Gorgeous. In a visually driven world, video content has become a powerful tool for interior designers to showcase their creativity, share design processes, and connect with a broader audience. Whether you're a seasoned professional or just starting in the field, incorporating video content into your marketing strategy can elevate your online presence and engage potential clients. In this blog post, let's explore the art of creating compelling video content for interior designers.
TOP 10 RULES OF CREATING VIDEO CONTENT! LET’S GO!
Establish a Clear Purpose: Before hitting record, define the purpose of your video. Whether it's to showcase a completed project, share design tips, or provide a behind-the-scenes look at your creative process, a clear objective will guide your content and resonate with your audience.
Invest in Quality Equipment: While you don't need a Hollywood-level production budget, investing in decent equipment is essential for producing high-quality videos. A good camera, stable tripod, and adequate lighting can make a significant difference in the visual appeal of your content. ### Big Tip! Don’t spend a ton of money on your social bag! Go to Amazon and find some key components there!###
Tell a Story with Your Designs: Design is a narrative, and your videos should tell a story. Take viewers on a journey through your projects, highlighting key design decisions, challenges, and the transformation process. This narrative approach not only engages your audience but also allows them to connect emotionally with your work.
Showcase Before and After Transformations: One of the most compelling aspects of interior design is the transformation. Capture the essence of your projects by showcasing impressive before-and-after sequences. This not only demonstrates your design skills but also adds a satisfying visual element to your content.
Create Engaging Tutorials and Tips: Share your expertise by creating tutorial videos and design tips. Offer practical advice on topics like color selection, furniture arrangement, or DIY decor projects. This not only positions you as an authority in your field but also provides valuable content that viewers will appreciate.
Utilize Time-Lapse and Speed-Up Effects: Condense longer processes into captivating time-lapse sequences or speed-up effects. This technique not only keeps your audience engaged but also allows them to witness the intricate details of your work without a time-consuming commitment.
Incorporate Drone Footage for Spatial Perspectives: For projects with expansive spaces or impressive exteriors, consider incorporating drone footage. Aerial shots provide a unique perspective, offering viewers a comprehensive understanding of the spatial layout and design elements.
Engage with Your Audience: Encourage viewer interaction by asking questions, responding to comments, and seeking feedback. Engaging with your audience creates a sense of community and encourages viewers to become invested in your content.
Establish a Consistent Brand Aesthetic: Just like your portfolio or social media feed, your videos should reflect a consistent brand aesthetic. This includes your logo, color scheme, and overall style. A cohesive visual identity enhances brand recognition and professionalism.
Optimize for SEO: Don't forget the importance of search engine optimization (SEO) for your videos. Craft compelling titles, use relevant keywords in your video description, and add tags that align with your content. This ensures your videos are discoverable by a wider audience.
Video content is a dynamic and engaging way for interior designers to connect with their audience, showcase their talent, and establish a strong online presence. By following these tips and infusing your unique style and personality into your videos, you can create a compelling visual narrative that resonates with clients and design enthusiasts alike.
